Omron Blood Pressure Monitor HEM-780 – Excellent Value For Money
Industry reports show the Omron has sold more of the Omron Blood Pressure Monitor HEM-780 than any other model ever produced. You will recall that last year I did a review on this very monitor; and in that review I said that this unit was one of my all time favorite BP monitors priced under $100, but not one of the best values. Well, things are considerably different now; and the HEM-780 is my definite choice for the award of ‘Overall Best Value’ and ‘Bed Pans to the Sky’ recipient as the best monitor in its price range.
In last year’s under $100 BP monitor showdown, the HEM-780 just barely met our pricing criteria, with a price of $99.99. In last year’s review, I told you that I really liked the monitor; but that its price precluded it as a best value. Well, a lot can change in a year; and the price of the HEM-780 has dropped considerably, while other model prices have remained fairly constant. The HEM-780′s current price of between $65 and $80 (varies according to the package, bundle etc.) make it the only realistic choice for the best value in this price range.
Some of you might have missed last year’s review on the Omron Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor HEM-780, so I thought I would cover some of the things we discovered about this unit. I won’t attempt to cover all of the great characteristics of this monitor; I will just let you know which ones I think are noteworthy.
Without a doubt, the most important feature of the HEM-780 monitor is its use of Morning Hypertension detection technology. Words cannot adequately describe how valuably important this feature could possibly be. Unusually high blood pressure levels in the morning, or Morning Hypertension, usually suggests an increased risk of heart attack or stroke. Being aware if you suffer from this condition could be play a major factor in staving off a heart attack or stroke. Some of you have heard me refer to this technology in the past, and know how vitally useful I believe it can be.
Another feature that I really like about the Omron HEM-780 home blood pressure monitor is the comfit cuff; it is huge. The large, adaptable cuff enables even large men or women to comfortably use it. I am a pretty big guy myself, and the cuff fit easily with plenty of room to spare. The cuff is stiff and not one of the soft, but cheap, feeling softer ones. Those baby soft cuffs feel nice; but they do not provide nearly as accurate results as the stiffer ones.
This monitor is like a tank in its quality construction, and will last a long time. The huge LED Display makes for easy reading of pressure check results. I guess, the only thing I don’t like about this monitor is the fact that the tube, from the machine to cuff, is tad bit short.
Nevertheless, this BP home blood pressure monitor is as good as they get. It is solidly built, accurate and reliable. Therefore, let all others be made aware that the new king of sub $100 BP monitors is the Omron Blood Pressure Monitor HEM-780 .
