Infertility May Be Due To Male Hormone Imbalance

Many times couples look towards acupuncture because other methods such as the cost of ivf seem so far out of reach.

For decades, acupuncture has been shown to be successful in helping to resolve fertility problems in women especially when used in combination with other treatments such as herbal medicines. In fact, there have been many reports of conception occurring from using simply a combination of acupuncture and herbal medicines and with no time-honored and traditional medical interventions such as in-vitro fertilizations.

However, seeming as how these events have been isolated and they occurred outside of a controlled environment, it’s impossible to determine if the conception was due to acupuncture and herbs or whether it was simply a matter of luck.

Most of the time when there are fertility problems in a relationship, the problem actually does lie with something in the woman’s reproductive system. But in a significant number of time, it lies with the man as well.

Acupuncture and Fertility Results

There have been isolated instances where acupuncturists have attempted to resolve fertility problems in men using acupuncture.  In these cases, however, there have not yet been an appreciable number of reports of acupuncture helping with their fertility problems.

There also have been relatively few studies that have actually put to the test whether acupuncture has an effect on male fertility. Until these studies occur, the effect of acupuncture on male infertility will remain undetermined. You can find more info on the many ivf Internet message boards.

When the infertility problem lies with the man, sometimes drugs are employed. One of the primary types of drugs used are drugs that contain gonadotropins. Gonadotropins are natural hormones in both men and women. In women it affects the development of the ovaries. In men, it causes gonadal growth. However, a hormone imbalance can cause low sperm counts.

If a male has an imbalance of this hormone in his body, the doctor will sometimes prescribe a drug containing the hormone in the hope that it will temporarily correct the imbalance. Once the hormonal balance is restored, the doctor will monitor the sperm count to track whether if it has indeed increased. If so, the infertility problem may be resolved. If not, the doctor will have to work further with the man to explore other possible solutions.
